Intercultural Exchange & Cooperation

The consortium of Interkulturelles Zentrum (Vienna/Austria) and the Association of Youth Non-formal Education in Lithuania (Vilnius/Lithuania) in partnership with the Eurasia Partnership Foundation run a three year program aimed at strengthening intercultural exchange and cooperation between the youth groups in the South Caucasus and Eastern/Central Europe through education and public awareness campaigns. EPF facilitates the communication process with local youth organizations and experts and renders technical assistance to the program in South Caucasus. By directly involving young people into the preparation and implementation of the campaign, the project supports the capacity building with young people’s organizations and initiative groups, and stimulates the development of civil society in the region.

In the framework of the project Young people’s organizations and initiatives from the South Caucasus countries are actively getting involved both in educational activities as well as the authentic communication processes within the awareness raising campaign in Austria and Lithuania.

The project activities include:
•Workshops with young people’s NGOs in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia carried out by Austrian, Lithuanian and local media experts (photographer, journalists from TV, radio and newspapers);

•(Non) formal learning projects, where representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia will support the learning projects both in person and virtually as well;

•Awareness campaigns supported by media experts and representatives of young people’s NGOs from South Caucasus.

The project involves evaluation component which will be conducted to asses the impact of intercultural projects and their success. The evaluation will be conducted by the team experts from European partner organizations.

At this stage of the project realization several regional workshops were conducted where young people from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia prepared short stories about several cultural, social and traditional aspects concerning their societies. Short documentaries and radio spots covering young people’s every day life in the South Caucasus will be prepared within the framework of the project and shown to a large number of youth in Lithuania and Austria.
