From October 18-22, 2010, the Atlantic Council Task Force Delegation to Georgia visited the country to learn about Georgia’s current domestic situation and how the U.S. can support democratic reforms and economic development. During this visit, David Lee, Chair of EPF’s Board of Trustees, hosted the Task Force representatives for a discussion with Georgian business leaders about the successes and challenges in the sector. Mr. Lee also briefed the Task Force about EPF’s activities and programs in Georgia, highlighting the important role that civil society plays in Georgia’s democratic, social, and economic development.
The Atlantic Council promotes constructive U.S. leadership and engagement in international affairs based on the central role of the Atlantic community in meeting the international challenges of the 21st century. The recently established Task Force on Georgia seeks to bring renewed attention in Washington to U.S. policy toward Georgia. The bi-partisan Task Force, co-chaired by Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), brings together top experts on a wide range of issues related to Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
